OpenHTTPD is a FREE, easy to use implementation of the HyperText Transfer Protocol. It's primary use is as application gateway cache to reduce the load on the backend application and database servers under DoS and DDoS attacks; no matter if the attacks are friendly like the peak after a tv spot or hostile like somebody tries to drain your resources.

OpenHTTPD is under active development and not part of the OpenBSD Project.

OpenHTTPD is running in production with xt:commerce and Oxid eSales application backends. It has been tested with many more systems, both general use and custom applications.
